{B.A.B.} Warrior's Quest

"Interesting."

date: July 4, 2009

I love the crescendos and the high strings. Sounds like a battle theme from like Final Fantasy or something like that. Another one of your best orchestral pieces. My only complaint is that you need a better choir sound. I have a great one if you want to test it. I noticed you took full advantage of squidfont. Nice piccolos and flutes. Big fan of your woodwind sounds. I also notice that pretty much all of your intros to your songs are flawless. I think this is great.

Author's Response:

God, this review makes me feel so bad for leaving that low-score review, man it's killing me inside right now.

It's funny, after making this song, I ended up getting my hands on much better sounds than I used for this song. If I had even one of the new things I acquired after this song, this song would have sounded unbelievable.

About intros, one of the hardest parts to a song, for me personally, is the intro. If I don't like the intro, I can't get into the song. And if I can't get into the song, then it starts to sound bad.

I wish I had a better choir, like the eastwest set or some other set, but I gotta work with what I got. I have several to choose from, at least.

Thanks for checking out my stuff. I'm glad that you like it, cuz I put a lot of work into them. Peace.

{B.A.B.} The Fall of Eden

"Sounds....more mysterious than powerful."

date: July 4, 2009

I would expect to find this in something like lord of the rings or some horror movie. I love the excecution in this one. Everything is nice and light and I really like your timpani samples. Percussion sounds like it comes out of a real orchestra. If you need good string samples, please see me. I have good string soundfonts (sort of like squidfont). The strings sound just a little too midi, but don't fret. On my rock song I made with my friend, we preffered the drumset in midi than using a soundfont. My only complaint about the piano is that there is barely any reverb. I don't know what it is, flute or what, and I believe you are using anttu brass samples (very good). Overall, this piece, I could see in a movie or video game. I think this one of your best orchestral pieces.

Author's Response:

It's funny, the original to this song was actually pretty synthy. It was actually pretty hard to find acoustic instruments that sounded similar to the synths I used.

I would like to see these string soundfonts, I can add them to the library. I already have an idea how I would use them.

I hadn't even noticed the piano problem while I was composing this. I don't know how I could have missed this. Oh well, too late now hahaha

Actually, I hadn't even heard of anttu before now. I gotta check them out too.

Thanks for the compliments and the critique, I really appreciate it. Send me a PM about the string SFs.

[=S-16=] Desert Wind

"If this is some alien desert, I get it."

date: June 23, 2009

I like the fading strings and the trance percussion. I would expect to hear this in a spy game or something. It sounds like you have an alien flute. The trance sounds make it sound space like. All I can picture is a spy movie and/or a distant planet with all desert. Nice job though!

OOT-Gerudo valley 2009 version

"Good. Very Now!"

date: June 23, 2009

I love the guitars and the percussion. My only two problems; the sax and the flute or ocarina, or whatever. You need a better sounding sax and a more realistic sounding flute and this would be a masterpiece! Your guitars are flawless though.

>>LOZ: The Lullaby of Time<<

"Music"

date: June 5, 2009

Being in music programs gives you talent. I play the viola, but this is the most amazing choir piece I've ever heard. The lyrics are in latin, am I correct? I can tell you did this with pride. I would pay to listen to this song (if I wasn't broke). You Alisa have amazing talent in choir. Never stop getting involved in choir. Keep up the good work.

Author's Response:

=)
Thank you. I won't lie; I've been dedicated to choral music for almost half my life, and I do take pride in that.
And I'm glad you thought this song was worthy of capital! $$

Also, on a crazy side note, never give up your viola. I used to play violin religiously--I won contests, played in a trio with my sisters, etc.--and then I stopped when the stress of practice time became too much. I still play, but not nearly as well as I could have if I had kept going when it got tough.
So at the risk of sounding like a parent, don't give up your viola!

The Nintendo Concerto (Part 4)

"Amazing!"

date: February 21, 2009

I have always been stunned by your Nintendo Concertos. The LoZ Overworld theme is not from ALTTP just to let you know, it's from Link's Awakening, but that's okay. Flawless my friend, flawless.

Song of time test- DJS

"Woh!"

date: January 25, 2009

Trancey. It absorbs my interest. It is really wavey too. I don't know why people don't like loops like this. Good Job. My only complaint is the panning. It kind of hurts my ears through earphones, but through a speaker, it's flawless.

(FMC) -=Scaling The Tower=-

"Well, well."

date: January 2, 2009

Reminds me of an epic knight running up endless stairs to a tower to save a princess and he encounters many monsters and slices their heads off and their blood flows down the rusty metal staircase railings dripping on the dark, cold stone floor. Then a SCREAM!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! EGH, finally got that out of my system. Really cool. I like the FX. Is it square? Just wondering. Truly epic!
